Employment, Productive Life Roles and Income Maintenance

Description: This group will discuss the issues, barriers, and implementation strategies necessary for making competitive employment outcomes and careers more likely for persons with intellectual disabilities. Specific discussion will revolve around Social Security reform initiatives such as the Ticket to Work roll-out, self employment, supported employment especially in the context of Medicaid reform, customized employment strategies and DOL initiatives, and how the impact of Olmstead on expanding productive empolyment actvities. Conversion from sheltered employment to competitive employment, the role of SSA work incentives and the role of business partnerships with the public sector and VR will also be discussed.
